The Rose

by Jeremy B   Feb 3, 2007

She shows up this evening
As ever, she looks beautiful.
When I see her now, I'm near ta regret
These soon actions of oh so cruel.

I invite her inside
And bid her ta do sit down.
I go through every precaution
Ta ensure no one is close around.

As I pour our drinks
We talk and begin to conversate.
With only me in knowing
Not much longer does she have in wait.

I choose each a glass of wine
And her's I place something in it.
I bring each out own ta have
Being careful ta keep the differ separate.

While she takes the poison laced wine
And holds it up ta her lips,
Then the glass shatters upon the floor.
For she dropped it after merely a few sips.

For no reason at all I took her life
And I have killed this innocent one.
I ask myself "What have I ended?"
But greater "What have I begun?"

In the actions of what I've done
I show no sign of shame.
In the actions of what I've done
I show no signs of pain.

How is it I can kill this girl
And come out clean and be free?
If this is what I've become
I'm afraid of what I ta be.
