Midnight Miss

by Behind Blue Eyes   Feb 4, 2007

When the nights are getting lonely,
And the hours are getting late,
I can rely on your call,
To cause my heart to decimate.

Though I know I shouldn't,
And I try to force myself to not,
When my phone starts to ring,
I pick it up on the spot.

I sit there and ignore what's apparent,
'Cause ignorance is bliss,
But in the subconscious of my mind, I know,
I'm just your Midnight Miss.

We catch up on new things,
And talk about our lives,
With knowledge of my need for sleep,
Yet, we talk until that time arrives.

And during our periodic silences,
I drift back to the nights we've kissed,
And then I realize what I am,
I'm just your Midnight Miss.

As I listen to you speaking,
A tear falls down my face,
I remember things you once said and meant,
At what time, and what place.

So then the subject changes,
And we start to reminisce,
But even though "we" are in the past,
I'm still just your Midnight Miss.

In my mind, I question your feelings,
And wonder if how you once felt is still true,
But I shall only know if you tell me,
Asking you, I dare not do.

The way you talk about how we once were,
Lets me know you're feelings for me still exist,
But, as long as you're with her, my love,
I'll always be your Midnight Miss.
