To love and have but one love,
Is that the true meaning of life?
For I'd like to see more
Than just money for my strife.
I'd like to see the ocean,
With it's white and frothy foam.
And live in a place where
I'm not bothered by a telephone.
I'd like to see my daughter,
In her wedding dress.
Because Lord knows without me?
She'd be an emotional mess.
I want to see my son's children,
Grow as strong and as healthy as an ox.
For if I don't see these things,
I'd be living in a windowless box.
A box in where,
No light would shine.
Where darkness alters
My state of mind.
But to love and have but one love,
Will bring me to the light.
So, please, take my hand and pull me out,
Save my soul with your love, tonight.
I've already been down a hard road,
Full of bumps and trials.
The whole time I was there,
I spent it in denial.
Denying that anyone,
Could ever love me.
With a heart black and ugly,
As any ever could be.
But with the help
Of your soft voice and gentle hands,
You forced my heart to beat
And to feel again.
It was something
I never thought possible.
But you, my love,
Have conquerded the impossible.
You brought me out of the box
And into the light.
You put wind beneath my wings,
You helped me regain flight.
Are you my gaurdian angel
Sent from above?
The grace of my flight,
Was just like a dove's.
And to you
Who is my one and only:
I know that now,
I'll never be lonely.
To love and have but one love,
Is that still the true meaning of life?
For now your pure, trusting, boundary breaking love,
Has payed the full debt of my strife.
