Memories (Part 2)

Memories 2

Silence.
I look out through the black window
And find not a shadow on the sidewalk
not a whisper from the pavement
I step outside under the moonlight
Dazing, dreaming, in this midnight,
I am once again lost in the memories.

Memories.
Standing alone in the moonlight
I look up at her and smile alone.
she shines so brilliantly upon me
bathing my skin in the pale light
withered pieces of time at my feet
like the fall pile of windy leaves
I fall into the pile and laugh alone
then sit in them and contemplate
Wondering, wishing of a new life
Where a golden day will awaken me.

I slowly and wrenchingly let you go
just as everyone one of them before.
Like a picture burning in the fireplace
but there was something special about you
Once so bright and new, now so frail
Then disintegrating, dying in the flames.
But once i sweep the ashes from my mind
I will walk on and think of you with a smile.

Layla, this is the type of stuff I love- this is simply outstanding-I am always amazed at your poems. The emotions and images you paint here really create a mood- so melancholy and wistful. What can I say but you are truly a talented writer. Excellent poem.
