True

by David   Feb 5, 2007

She\'s on top of the world
And he on the bottom
She has her doubts
But he thinks nothing will stop them

Tick of the clock as time whizzes past
He\'s next to the phone, weekend gone so fast

She\'s out with friends, having a ball
Laughter and excitement, no worries at all

He is eager and waiting, for that important ring
The one in which so much happiness will bring

Satisfied with herself, ending last time with such grace
A sharp goodbye and a cold peck on the face

He recalls last they met, with such adoring glee
He had been so warm and loving, just like she

Ill have to call him soon, a little later i think
She doesnt realise how far his heart will sink

Its midnight now, he\'s still by the phone
His complection empty; lifeless as stone

Woops nearly forgot, she can\'t have that
Dialed the number and never even sat

As lightning he answered, with anxious speed
This was worth the wait he knew, yes indeed

Impatience growing as he wished he were there
Asking so many questions, wanting to know how she did fair

Brimming with love, He knew it was true
He had to let her go to bed...slowly...I love you

Hang up the phone and hop into bed
Already she has forgotten the things he had said.
