One Foggy Morning

by Animus   Feb 5, 2007

6 o'clock in the morning.
Darkness still envelopes the world.
Only there's something new this morning.
A thick fog shrouds everything.
Walking on the sidewalk,
every sound is twice as loud.
I hear dripping in the distance.
The trees are dripping water continually.
Water drips from every branch.
I look at the hanging branches with fear.
I pass under the first without incident.
The second as well.
Passing under the third a large drop of water suddenly hits me on the forehead.
I jump and reach up to wipe it off.
Only.....it's not water, it's blood.
I gasp and look up.
The only reasone I passed under these watchful trees unscathed was because they already had their victim.

~I was walking to school at 6 because Jazz choir starts at 6:15, and that's pretty much what it felt like.~

I won't ask why you were going to school so early, lol. But excellent dark poem.
The mood was creepy and the ending so unexpected.
    Well done!
