Flying Down the Highway

by Purplem   Feb 6, 2007

My car flew along the highway
I was going way too fast
My foot upon the gas pedal
It was all too sweet to last

Another driver honked at me
I didn't seem to hear
I just kept flying down the highway
With no trace of any fear

I flew by all the scenery
I took no time to look
I really wish I had
It was like a picture from a book

I flipped open my cell phone
And started talking to a friend
While I was flying down that highway
It was coming to an end.

Another person honked at me
I swerved and hit a truck
My car spun into an endless pit
It was stuck in all the muck

I think I passed out after that
Until I heard the sirens blare
My left leg was killing me
Blood was matted in my hair

I can remember crying
While my mother held me tight
It had been my first car wreck
And my last highway flight.
