Gettysburg

by Independence Forever   Feb 6, 2007

A silent fog covered battleground
has endured war's devastating round

once clashed in civil war passion
now serves a different fashion

the cannons are now silent
the ground finally compliant

many a good man did die
this place resonating an eternal cry

blue and grey for three days clashed
after those three days the men had dashed

for a few hot days more bodies rotted
but soon money for a memorial was alloted

dedicated by lincoln and many more
one day secession would forget this places' sore

forever silent the ground hallowed and sacred
you enter and leave with less and less hatred

visit Gettysburg, a sight to see
many a man died, so we would be free
