Selfish Dependencies

Do you feel like a man when you push her around?
Do you feel better when she falls to the ground?
Does it make you feel strong when you laugh in her face?
Would you feel weak if you just gave her some space?

When she's choking on tears does that really seem right?
Is there nothing you could do besides start a fight?
When she's sitting there bleeding you send her away.
If you hate her so much then why force her to stay?

With your fist in the air, youre posed for attack.
You've hurt her so much; she has no will to fight back.
For her-- life is dead; its meaning is gone,
And she can't help but wonder were she went wrong.

To you she's worth nothing; but you refuse to let go
She wants a divorce yet always you say no.
Why won't you give up, and set your wife free?
She's locked in a cage and you've got the key.

You've beaten her body but her soul stays intact,
So get over your pride and give her heart back.
Break off her shackles, and untie her chains.
Unburden her life from all of your pains.

The rooms are empty and all her stuff is gone
And that's when you realize what you didn't know all along;
You figured it out, why you wanted her here,
Without her around you must bear your own fear.
