Friends

by deadbeatromance   Feb 6, 2007

I remember the days when we were friends.
Our friendship was like a popsicle in the summer's heat, sticky, but still sweet.
I remember how we used to spend hours listening to the car radio too loud, sneaking out at night and going to shows, and laughing until our stomaches ached, at things that weren't really ever that funny.
I remember how we used to ditch school and sit at the dock, skipping rocks across the lake.
I remember the sparkle in your eyes when you said that we'd be friends till the end. But then you moved away.
I remember how we used to write each other letters and talk for hours on the phone, but now you never write, and your calls get fewer and fewer.
Maybe, you got caught up with other things.
Maybe, you have better friends now.
Maybe the end came sooner than I thought it would.
But I still remember the days when we were friends.
