Two Pet Tigers

We almost knew
The end was near
For what we thought
We had no fear

All those hugs
Popsicles and iced-tea
The feeling of knowing
That you loved me

Although saying goodbye
Is so hard
And the words on your mind
Can't be out in a card

You know it as much
As we know ourselves
We loved you a lot
Even if we climbed on your shelves

And the future is blurry
It's hard to see
But I know you'll be
Looking down upon me

And the smile on your face
Told us what's on your mind
And it hurts us to know
We'll have to leave that behind

But all those babies
That laughed and would cry
All came together
On the day you would die...
...and we did

And every moment
I walked in the door
I would hear the same words
As I did before...
...."hello sunshine"

You'd say to me
And all those moments of love
And being happy

I also remember
What you said
A few months
Before you were dead

That when you passed away
And you rise above higher
You said you want
2 pet tigers

And now as we look
At the clouds in the sky
It reminds us of the
Beauty in a tiger's eye

And how you were tough
Though life rearranges
You played the role of a tiger
Through all those cahnges

And as I look at your picture
I can just hear you sayin'
"I want two beautiful,
pet tigers when I go to heaven"
