Please Don't Laugh

by ashley   Feb 7, 2007

Yellow with brown spots,
Taller than man
With my neck as long as can be
I can reach the trees
And eat the leaves
Tongue so long I could pick my nose,
On my bendy legs
I run across the Sahara
Through long hot days

Miss Davis please don't laugh
But as you can see this poem is about a giraffe
It all came about when I signed a yearbook
You should really take a look
I said that we had never laughed about giraffes
Now my nickname involves one
You also know that I am short
Maybe that is the basis of this newfound obsession
With the very tall animal
Even though it can pick its nose with its tongue
That's just gross

This may seem like a last minute poem
But I put a lot of thought into this one
All so that you can read about giraffes
So Please don't laugh
About my beloved giraffe
