Just what I needed...

by Anne Garcia   Feb 8, 2007

I hear it now as I look toward the window
Too blurry to see clearly yet so inviting
I can hear it very clearly, it's coming down hard today
I look to the window again and it feels like I'm melting.

Quickly I grab myself and run towards the door.
I smile at the wet, muddy smell.
Just exactly what I needed, just a rainy day.
I step out of the shadows, to let my heart sore.

I look up at the gray, cloudy sky.
The sun is hiding away from me.
I smile again and I close my eyes.
This is the closest thing that lets me be free.

The freedom to dance around, and jump into the puddles.
The freedom to laugh and giggle at my slipping and sliding.
The freedom to be happy, under the raindrops.
The freedom to go back to reality, when it suddenly stops.

Drenched to the bone, I walk back inside.
Back into the shadows, back into the night.
Back into the gloomy and boring days.
Back into the life behind closed doors.

** Hope you all like it!
