Closed Doors

by Lydia Tounzen   Feb 8, 2007

You get awakened late at night,
What's that pounding?
Who's screaming?
What's attacking?
It's reality knocking at your door,
The reality of a gunshot,
The reality of a lie,
The reality of a hidden truth,
You wonder why it came for you of all people,
It came because it felt your pain,
It came because it knew your name,
It came because it was sent,
You look into deaths eyes and wonder,
Why now?
Why not sooner?
Why not later?
All your questions are left un-answered,
Because you never really asked,
Because you already knew,
Because if was to late,
The door closed on everything you once knew,
Your friends,
Your truths,
Your reality,
Now you're left to figure out,
Where you go from here,
What you do,
Why you do it,
But most of all,
Who you are.
