Looking at the World

by Broken Dreams   Feb 8, 2007

You are looking at this world
Trying to beat it on your own
Looking for the answers
On why you feel alone
But every where around you
People seem at home
While you're lost within a world
Where everything is wrong

So little Erica has a dad who likes to hit
She tries to hide the bruises
Says they only hurt a bit
But every day continues
The hateful chain of pain
And she knows that the next day
It will all begin again

You are looking at this world
Trying to beat it on your own
Looking for the answers
On why you feel alone
But every where around you
People seem at home
While you're lost within a world
Where everything is wrong

Little Johnny says it
But no one will believe
His mother makes him take it
She pushes up his sleeve
She tells him it will save him
She tells him he is bad
She sticks a needle in him
And says it will make him glad

You are looking at this world
Trying to beat it on your own
Looking for the answers
On why you feel alone
But every where around you
People seems at home
While you're lost within a world
Where everything is wrong

Nattie sees a knife
Sitting on the counter
Tries to take her life
But somebody found her
Soon she gets addicted
To causing herself pain
And when things start hurting
She turns to it again

You are looking at this world
Trying to beat it on your own
Looking for the answers
On why you feel alone
But everywhere around you
People seem at home
While you're lost within a world
Where everything is wrong

So put down the fists, the needles, the knifes
Put down the weapons you were handed by life
Look at each other and see your common pain
Life has hit everyone, we're all different but the same

You are looking at this world
Trying to beat it on your own
Looking for the answers
On why you feel alone
But everywhere around you
People seem at home
While you're lost within a world
Where everything is wrong

You are lost within a world
Where everything is wrong
