Once Proud Now Forgotten

by ben thompson   Feb 8, 2007

Slowly and progressively our minds waste away.
Deteriorating to a point where we forget the day.

Sadly, agonizingly we wither to nothing.
Like an old hunk of metal, ancient and rusting.

Maltreated and forgotten, then thrown away.
These are their grim realities every day.

They once were the backbone of our land.
Now outward and forsaken, no one understands.

Cared for by strangers, our burdens we hide.
These elderly who die alone, nobody by their side.

I had to comment on this again. I am so glad it made the boards. Maybe people will realalize what the elderly have given to us. They should be treated with respect and dignity. 5/5
