How could you?

You said you would always love me,
You said you would always care.
You said you would always hold me,
And you would always be there.

But today here Im sitting,
Alone on a log in the woods,
Writing of you and all you have done,
And wondering how you could.

If forever is week,
And love is to make hate,
If caring is to hurt,
And holding is to leave…

How can you go along,
As though nothing ever happened.
How can you hold your head high,
And you do this to another?
