I'd like to...

by Melissa   Feb 12, 2007

I'd like to be your daffodil
and kiss you with my petals
beneath the golden sun,
where four leaf clovers grow
lush
and lucky and fanatically green

I'd like to paint my poem a meadow
where her words could roam freely
as a butterfly flittering gracefully
through the trails of
hope
and rain and forgotten dreams

I'd like to call you my wild rose
and press you gently
against my belly
until your thorns grab ahold
two flowers becoming
one
and sweet and simply complete

I'd like to live life unafraid
and laugh through the madness
that makes blond hair turn gray,
sometimes it's tough growing older
alone
without a proper chest to call
home
and familiar and perfectly whole

Melissa, your poetry is an inspiration to all. The whole piece, from the first word til the last, just...wonderful, magnificent. I don't even have a favorite line. It's terrific. Nicely done!!

    hugs and bugs,
