Day of victory

by Independence Forever   Feb 12, 2007

As soon as the battle began it ends
in the aftermath a surgeon attends

shouts of victory arise over the city's spires
when the triumph is over them, there's no mire

"this city is reclaimed" is heard throughout the town
even greater than that is the news, the enemy is taken down

a lone soldier wonders as he sees his men rush by
how many of his comrades had to be sacrificed, how many had to die

a surgeon sits by his operation table
he thinks that now it's over, life is stable

in not much time a ceremony is ready
a single soldier is voted to set the flag up steady

he thinks to himself "today life is good"
for today life is as finally just as it should

the best thing about a war is it's conclusion, and how everyone feels about it. i tried to capture that feeling.
