Misspoken Heart

by David Marshall   Feb 13, 2007

Your alone in the world.
You can't seem to make one smile.
You lost the only girl,
that was ever really worth while.

You walk alone in the woods.
Passing every broken stone.
You didn't think you should,
but who cares when your alone.

The flowers fade black and die.
With every step you take.
A memory comes with each tear you cry.
A memory of every mistake.

The sun slowly sets.
The wind's breeze sleeps at the moment.
A leaf falls for every regret.
The thoughts in your mind; thoughts of torment.

This pain through your soul; memories in your head.
You lay down on a near by log.
You've cried until your eyes are blurred; hope is dead.
You barely even notice the fog.

The sky is so black; all light consumed.
The sun will never come back.
Things might get better; you shouldn't assume.
All the stones are broken; but one has a crack.

You see a dull but living flower.
You lift up that stone.
Your life is not over; don't ever cower.
You wont always be alone.

Those rocks may be broken.
Those flowers may have died.
But your heart has been misspoken.
Your heart is not empty; God is inside.

I understand your story but, to me, your rhythm is all over the place making it a difficult read.
