Bullet for my Valentine

Now I lay me down to eternal sleep,
I pray to god that you will keep-
My valentine safe forever more,
But now I must leave, with a bullet in my core.

As we walked on the beach, his hand in mine,
I dreamed of how we'd be like this for all time.
Suddenly, shots rang out I hit the sand,
And pulled you down with me, still holding hands.

The gunman came into sight, as he aimed at you,
Just as he shot, I knew what I had to do.
I leaped in front, as the bullet hit my chest,
But I know that what I did was best.

The gunman ran away, as I lay bleeding on my love,
"Never fear sweetie, I'll see you again above.
Don't give up hope, you'll find someone new,
But for now baby, I must leave you."

With that I died, now I get laid to rest,
Without any guilt or pain in this chest.
I lost my life to the man I called mine,
I took the bullet for my Valentine...
