Patriot's dream gone in flames

by Independence Forever   Feb 14, 2007

4th of July, our nation's birthday date
but now a sale of fireworks bate

once it was celebrated by solemn remembrance
but now the day has lost all it's resemblance

a document signed, a hard decision made
now we only worry how much we need paid

by separating from Britain meant treason
but now we get drunk, for no good reason

there was once a dream, a fragile American nation
oh but now we take our work checks and go on vacation

the spirit of July fourth 76 is gone forever more
but by now i hope you all know the score

a sad truth, a painful reality, we have no choice but to wear
the truth is so sad, it is for the few who know to bear

remember the fifty-four men who put their lives on the line
so that we could be free to take a drink of freedom's wine
