I had a dream tonight
you were in it
would you like to hear about it?

you were boarding that fateful plane
leaving us at home to fend for ourselves
as i watched you walk away
i realize that i forgot to say goodbye
and that i love you
so i start to run after you
but in my dream you disappear
and i realize that i will never see you again
i fall on the ground crying
thinking
thinking about all of those things i should have said

i woke up in a cold sweat tonight
with a fear that you aren't here
so i walk to your room
and i peek into the doorway
you sound asleep
i feel a little more comforted

then i realize that you will be leaving
i start to think about all of our memories
all the things we did together

the times mom and dad would be yelling
so you took to your room
and you turned on your music
just so i wouldn't have to hear

the times when i was younger
and would wake up scared
in the middle of the night
i would walk to your room
and curl up on the end of your bed
those nights i would fall asleep feeling safe

then when i grew up
you would try to protect me
try not to let me make a mistake
i always got so mad at you

but now i realize why you did that
its because you love me
even if you never say it

so I'm going to tell you right now
i love you too
please don't leave
i don't think i can make it without you here
