Your Own Disaster

by Emma Carnage   Feb 16, 2007

Maybe I shouldn't be so obvious.
Maybe you'll just shrug me off.
I wish I could say that you don't know what you're missing.
You know perfectly well and it's still missing.
You can keep me pushed away but I just dare you to forget.
All those days and nights that I still think of as my best.
I dare you to forget those marks I left across your neck.
I dare you to forget those nights you held me in your arms.
I dare you to forget all those times you saw me cry.
I dare you to forget the way you made me laugh and the way I said your name.
I dare you to forget the first time you said those three words.
I dare you to forget our talks about the future and what furniture we would buy.
I dare you to forget the way I looked at you and fit right into your arms.
I dare you to forget the way I bit your lip and what my body felt like next to yours.
I just dare you to forget what you've been missing.
And I wish you weren't worth the wait but I just can't forget.
Remember when I just couldn't walk away from you?
Remember when you called just to say you loved me and you got home?
Remember when I was the one for you?
I just can't forget even when I've put you away to clutter up my shelves.
Maybe you don't know what you've been missing.
Can you really remember what we had?
I just don't think you do.
I dare you to forget but I don't want you to.
Won't you let me be more than a lost love?
Maybe I'll just be obvious.
I don't care what anybody else says.
I miss you.
I love you.
I want to be with you.
I won't say forever but you know I'm thinking it.
If not forever then for at least a little longer.
I just can't let myself believe that we're over.
There has to be more to the story.
It barely begun.
It can't be over yet.
What if we haven't even gotten to the good part yet?
