Broken Soul

by Meagan   Feb 17, 2007

To see through the eyes of a broken soul,
Who once had aspirations and once had a goal.
But now all those dreams just turned to dust,
Because she thought they might as well just go to rust.
The happiness that once was a part of her life,
Has now been taken over by anguish and strife.
The joy that used to lighten up her eyes,
Turned into blackened pits of demise.
The optimistic heart that had no fears,
Had broken apart and filled up with tears.
The face that used to have a golden glow,
Had faded and burned out long ago.
Her world that seemed so perfect on the outside,
Was filled with depression which she learned to hide.
She covered up her sadness with a spurious smile,
When everyone thought she was fine all the while.
This emotional pain she could not take any longer,
The constant despondency did not make her any stronger.
And now you see the life through a broken soul,
And witness how misery can take a toll.
