How it was that night

by Steven   Feb 17, 2007

I sent you home after a long night and day
i slowly carried you up your house stairs
i quietly put you into bed
slowly cover your bed sheets over you
in case you get a cold
i stared at you a few moments
as you slowly dive into your sleep
i smiled and quietly walked away
your hands were cold and shaking when you suddenly held onto my arm
your speech and words were unable to understand
but i knew in my mind
you didn't want to be alone on this quiet night
outside was dark and cold
inside was quiet and chilly
you held onto my arm and didn't let go
i didn't try to break free or try to let go
slowly i sat down next to your bed
slowly i could hear your words of loneliness and fear
i could only quietly sit next to you
and slowly close my eyes and dream
as i slowly fell asleep
with you next to me
i could feel the of happiness
and i closed my eyes and let everything work out in my dream
the night was cold and quiet outside
and for the first time i saw rain and not your tears
you always left behind
