Torn

by Twisted Heart   Feb 17, 2007

As darkness falls upon my heart
Inside my mind you creep
Just pieces of a broken soul
To tend me while I sleep.

My teardrops are no stranger
To the eyes that hide the pain
Of when you left me here to cry
And say goodbye again.

A hunger for contentment
That so long ago, I felt
Within your arms, a comfort
That I grew to know so well.

Has left me with a burden
That has drifted through my soul
The scattered empty pieces
That were hard for me to hold.

To see the dreams of passion
Within the nights embrace
Will only cause a lingering
Of truth I have to face.

How can I ever hope to find
A love that's strong and true
When In my heart I must confess
To always loving you.

This was a battle I had to fight...but haven't we all? A good poem, perhaps only because of its connection with my own personal experiences, but who am I to know?
