Venom and Honey

by Ana(Angel)   Feb 18, 2007

Lifeless yet sustained
as love's chains support my aching weight
afar lies the eyes of a merciless lover
fixed upon an unknown dream
avast it lies
like a vision of bland pigments
a dulcet tone yet a bloodcurdling shriek
jabs sharply on the hard plate of my skull
words stalk eager on my tongue
restrained and unaware; pounding persistently
on the door of my moist black lips
all effort is in vain, as foreshadowed
before my eyes
deaths icy breath exhales hungrily
upon my neck
a vague memory warms my quivering flesh
as muscle relaxes with it's dear thought
and lips yearn for a last honey-coated kiss
why dream of honey
when reality is venom?
My taste could care less
for the mixed caress and sting
of false infatuation
for venom and honey has always tasted
the same to me....
