They Don't Understand

Everytime I see him
Tears well in my eyes
Even though he's hurt me so,
He was by far my hardest goodbye.

I thought that he was different
I hoped he was "the one"
I didn't want it to be over
But I guess what's done is done.

How stupid can a person be
Hiding from the truth
Knowing exactly what's going on
But pretending they haven't a clue

People just don't understand
How strongly this pain feels
They say, jusy give it time
Eventually your wounds will heal

"Move on, he's had his chance,
He doesn't deserve you anymore."
They don't understand that I love him,
Even if my heart's been torn.

I know I'm capable of moving on
But that's not the problem here.
Losing him forever
Is the one thing I truly fear.
