As Spring Comes From the Winter

by Twisted Heart   Feb 21, 2007

As spring comes from the winter
And the sun melts drifts of snow
The trees stretch out their branches
To bask in sunshine's glow

The birds return to lend a hand
They sing a joyful tune
As they carry on their wings
The smell of Spring's perfume.

The blades of grass are tickled
By the gentle breeze that blows
They bend inside the field of green
And watches Nature's show.

The butterfly peeks her tiny head
Out from the warm cocoon
And gives a shiver as she feels
The kiss of morning's dew.

The Easter Lilly lifts her head
And catches on her face
The sparkle of contentment
By a group of sunny rays.

All around are breaths of wonder
Winter's coat is left behind
Caught up in all the splendor
As Spring sings her lullaby

Oh Mercy Jeannie you create such beautiful imagery with words.
It's as though you have taken a plain white canvas and magically created a rainbow of beauty and color.
It leaves me breathless and soooo looking forward to Springtime.

    Beautiful, beautiful poem Jeannie!
