A Moment Before Twilight ( blank verse).

by david kessel   Apr 6, 2004

After I stayed indoors for a few days
I ventured outside to look at the world.
The clouds were swelling upon the skies
The azure backdrop shuddering
With distant thunder.
All around, the symphony of the birds
And the colorfullness of flowers
Celebrated being themselves.
It was a great moment.
I became aware of how I, too
Was part of the whole thing.
The leaves of so many trees
Were moving like so many
Green fingers. It was all alive and interconnected.
The sky became pink and then
It went out a after a brief twilight
And a moist night fell on everything.
I just stood there caressed by the coolness
Of the evening breeze
It was a great feeling
I was one with it all.
