Dance With Angels

by Cuddles   Feb 21, 2007

Ballet was always her dream,
the dance of beauty and grace.
She'd tie her hair in a blue ribbon
trimmed in silver lace.

Her feet would glide across the floor,
never seeming to touch the ground.
She'd conclude with a strong finale,
thunderous applause erupting all around.

Her stomach would growl as the curtain closed.
She just wanted something to eat,
but she could only have the minimum food.
Pop tarts were an unaffordable luxury.

A cross hung from her bony neck,
a bracelet on one arm dangled.
She lost her battle with anorexia today.
Now she dances with angels.

Oh my god, this piece is so beautiful and sad at the same time.
    It's so touching, wonderfully written.
    First stanza is my favorite.
    Great job, 5/5.

Cudds.......I haven't read your poetry in ages and when I do, I love how I come back to something so poweful as this...That last stanza was absolutley amazing!!..I mean..wow!!! I'm speechless...

This is happening to girls right now and its so sad that they don't realize they don't have to do what they do. I think my friend is turning this way and its starting to scare me and reading this makes me want to talk to her about it. I loved this write! Excellent!
