Pretty Death

by The Queen of Spades   Feb 21, 2007

Pretty death
Wheels around
On a rose-pink bicycle
With taffeta ribbons
Riding fast
Over seeping mud

Pretty death
Sleeps soundly
In a welcoming bed
Under softness
And a warm, blue comforter
Comforted by stars

Pretty death
Eats too quickly
At a crumb-covered table
Sweet, tart, hot, cold
Inhaling a fullness
That never feels right

Pretty death
Is in the ugly newspaper
Under the ugly bridge
Near the ugly cities
Above the ugly stars
With all its ugly glory

Pretty death
Is her and him
Is them and us
Is you and me
Pretty death is everywhere
Don't run away
