Deathbed Regrets

by Chris Jackson   Feb 22, 2007

Did you keep any secrets
Or did your secrets keep you?
Were they really worth hiding?
Was there nothing you could do?

You prayed to be noticed
But kept out of sight
You were seen only in darkness
But hidden by the night.

You threw away your life
In your quest to feel alive.
You pretended things were easy
While you struggled to survive.

Now time’s wrote the lines
On you face like a scroll.
You lost faith in living
When you sold your soul.

Now you’re in Heaven
But existing in Hell
A seller of dreams
Left with nothing to sell

I loved this. It scared me a little since it hit right on the nail in a lot of places, but I loved it. Keep writing!
