Warmth Within Words

Warmth Within Words

Deep inside the candlelight
It flickers within flame
The sudden glow I feel inside
As letters spell my name

I wonder, why did I
Get named such a thing
As K-r-i-s-t-i
The name is a bee sting

I wish I could have named myself
Instead of mom and dad
Then I think of other subjects
Like parents I wish I had

Then I think about my friends
How could they like me?
Looking in the mirror
I don't like what I see

I see this girl that needs some help
Who's inside that mirror?
She doesn't know herself
How can you describe her?

My memory whispers,
She's a poet... an artist, a singer
Just writes, draws, and sings
To get rid of the hurt

Sometimes, some days
I wish it wouldn't say
All these negative things
That get in the way

I close my eyes,
And let out my breath
I want to sigh
So I'll get some rest

Looking at my paper
Once a slate wiped clean
Now written, like magic
Is what inspires me

I was just looking in the Contest section and I decided to read the poems in teh Inspiration contest you entered. There, I stumbled upon a beautifulpiece of work, your poem. I love it so much. The wording, the thought, the way it was set up was just perfect! Even the lack of punctuation didn't bug me. I was so absorbed in the content that I just had to scroll up and see if you had punctuation. I read poems from people not on this website, and I didn't like them as much. I started paying more attention to the punctuation. I was sitting there thinking...I don't know if I wanna read poetry for a while (I'm not saying the stuff I read was horrible, but it wasn't as good as most of PQ's people's work). Anyway, the point. It was just soo fabulous that I love it to pieces. haha.
