Imagine

by thexshattered   Feb 24, 2007

I could watch you dance for hours
Under the sun and wilting flowers.
Watch your grace unfold behind
All of the tragic, dirty, empty lies.
I wanted to stay in this moment forever
Past all the fake Forever and Evers.
I never did like all the lies I believed--
All the lies I never thought that I could conceive.
You twirl in that dress, your grace burns on.
I must confess, that I find myself torn
Between the tragic embrace of life,
Scorching behind your sorrowful eyes.
Your tears flowed out in waterfall fashion,
Made a puddle of all but your compassion.
I tried to get close to you and I,
I tried to catch up, but I never could fly.
I race behind you--you're drifting away,
Back to the sky, to keep the wicked at bay.
I wonder now, though, if I really met you,
If you were really something I always knew.
Don't tell me the truth, I might hurt inside.
Just let me imagine the grace you hide behind
For an instant of glorious fantasy.
Just, please, let me for now be.
