The Artist's Palette

by John Long   Feb 25, 2007

When she opened my curtains and showed me the light
The brush was laden with a brilliant white
With the gifts of joy she brought to my bed
Her brush was dripping a crimson red
And when she crushed me with a merciful crack
The brush was heavy with merciless black
But she would leave me smiling, warm and mellow
A stroke of sunshine, vibrant and yellow
She drew her signature across my heart
Forever blessed that I shared her art.

Again, I read this beautiful masterpiece and am mesmerized as always by your writes. I love the flow in the poem and all the vivid colors used to associate the feelings within each line. Amazing still after numerous reads, by far one of my two favorite writes from you.
