He walked away
From the fight at bay.
Letting down his pride
Loosening his grip,
Tears falling from his eyes.
He sat by me
His hand on my knee.
I looked into his eyes,
And I cried.
He said,Baby why are you crying?
I tried my best, fought with my all.
I couldn't take the pressure, so I let it fall.
I squeezed his hand and kissed his cheek,
Tears rolling down his eyes, he said good-bye.
I walked away, never looking back.
Didn't say another word, I left it at that.
Its been a year, and he ain't here
I tried to move on, but the thought that hes gone,
Kept holding me back.
I remember it like it was yesterday,
When he held my hand,
And Id tell him stuff he wouldn't understand,
Because he was my man.
When people ask me, where is he?
I told them he's right here.
Cause no matter what, to me he never walked away.
And I'm still holding on to, memories of yesterday.
