Dad

I once had one, just like everybody else-It went away-I remember the day, story and cold-He was my protector-Lifting me high above the trees-His rough hands an my soft skin- His tattooed muscles underneath his work shirt- His smile so bright and warming- I came home with mom- We were walking up the driveway-You were nowhere to be found-I was told to play outside with Josh-
Silent
Still
the world was-All at once the world was lost to me-No more laughing-No more flying above the trees- No more you-Swallowed by the truth-No more you-I’m lying to myself-When I woke up and saw the sunshine-The tears drained from my eyes- There’s nothing left for me-No more broken promises from you-You took your life and now mine is gone
