My World Fell & You Weren't There

by Sarah Ann   Feb 26, 2007

My heart crushed and you watched it fall
Did nothing worthy through it all
As it tumbled over the mountain's crest
You stood stiff - heartless like the rest
Promising, promising you would care,
The world was falling with you there

You watched and let my life decay
Throwing my blackened rose away
I've heard in whispers, through my pain
Where agony has screamed your name
Exposing all your hidden blame,
That your heart loathes what I became

The guilt that you have spilt on me
Has erupted...spurt, so beautifully
I'm trying hard to make it through
But love is not enough for you
Have I not done enough my friend?
Shared burning secrets on my end?

Unfaithfully dragging you in,
Am I not proof of human sin?

We climb uphill, and I'm still here
You've changed towards me; bitter, I fear.
Never once did you sacrifice
Those bitter views on life are right

Promises are meant to break
To see how much the heart can take,
To see how fast the eye can bleed
And how far we can go with greed
To feel how well we burn with pride
Until the pain breaks us inside...
And mountains crash; yes hearts will tear
To see how much a person cares.

[My world fell, and you weren't there]
