Us On Top of the World

by thexshattered   Feb 27, 2007

I.

Your hands were made
Of gold,
And mine of silver.
The alloy was precious,
Indescribable
As we faced horrors
Hands clasped.

II.

You ran into the rain
And I chased after you,
Slipping, we slid together,
Closed our eyes
And waited out the storm,
And made a pit stop
At the local sunshine rest area.

III.

We watched the world
Unfold in its never-ending way
And wrote syllables
Of the empty moments
Where we just wanted to curl up
And sink into the dying earth.
And we wrote them together,
Mixing words with tragic words
And meaningless syllables
Valued only by ourselves
Because this was how we coped.

IV.

We stood against the world
And laughed at the mistakes it had made
With no remorse evident
In the gales of mirth
Emanating from eternal lips
Pressed firmly into hilarity.
But we knew there was something more
Than the high sense of girlishness
And the knowledge that we were better
Than everyone else.
