With Hopes Of Forever

by Hannah Emellia   Feb 28, 2007

(In the end instead of the word coin.. or whatever.. I used Rose because I thought it was pretty... not because I don't know what it is. ^_^ )

You look into my eyes, dark and dead as disco,
I'm only a memory, like the count of Monte Cristo,
No longer a person, but a thing of the past,
However we all know: life isn't meant to last.

You all paint your faces; the show must go on,
Death is your master, you'll dance to his song,
Although you may mourn for me, you wont shed a tear,
For you want to live longer, in this world based on fear.

I wish you wouldn't do this, living life for Death,
But as you know- I'm dead already with no hope for one more breath,
There's no way to tell you, you'll all be going to Hell,
Because like every other, I also tripped and fell.

Death took my life, but something worse got my soul,
I'm all alone in anguish, and I'll nevermore be whole,
These words may be forgotten, but I'll hand in my last Rose,
In hopes of forever, and in earning some repose.

I was going to rate this a four, but something made me rate it a five, but I'm not sure what. I couldn't really find a favorite stanza but I think my favorite rhyme was the first one. I think the use of the count of Monte Cristo nudged it a little. Anyway, I liked this poem. It was dark and was superbly written. Also it wasn't too long. I'm a big fan of short poems, so it was great for me. Anyway, I'm off, but I look forward to reading more of your work. I'm rather intrigued by you. You seem to have more talent than most on this site. So I'll be watching, lol.
