Empty Vessel

by Michael D Nalley   Feb 28, 2007

My time is near I feel I have been bled dry
There is a song in my heart, a tear in my eye
The breath left in my vessel is about gone
As the darkness seems to await the dawn

I have drank divine blood and called it wine
My humble cup has held the fruit of the vine
My soul was freed when my mind forgot
About my cup and all the pain it has brought

Other wise my life would have been wasted
On memories of empty pleasures I have tasted
To focus on the cup ignoring what it contains
Is as useless as honoring its broken remains

Like my father before me it has seemed
That every single man must be redeemed
Leaving behind us an empty useless cup
With faith that God will lift the hopeful up

I really like the topic you wrote about, everything about it was so true. I agree with everything you said. The flow and rhyme were both very good. This had a very good meaning in it. Great job! I really loved it!
