From Where I Sit

by Deana   Feb 28, 2007

To the low life drug dealer
Who sells on the block
Who brags to his friends, That he`s on top
Just keeping it real
From where I sit, your not

You feed on the weakness of your brother
You preach about gettin respect
While you escort him to the gutter
Instead of lending him a helping hand
You sell him poison, that makes him less than a man

You speak softly, and smile as he walks away
Your pockets feeling right
Do you care that his innocent children, go hungry tonight
Where is your heart, where is your soul
What happened to you to turn you so cold

Do you cry,do you feel
Has your heart become as cold as steel
When you find someone who cares for you
Do they become a target
Just someone you can use

When addiction takes away the users pride
Do you feel powerful as you tell yourself lies
If not me then someone else
Is this the way your conscience
Trys to clear itself

The next time you brag to your boys on the clock
Your gettin paid, your back on top
Listen to the voice from heaven saying
From where I sit , your not.

Oh wow - each poem I read just gets better and better. Im glad from your PM that your friend stopped using so he could take care of his family better. It must be a very close to home topic for you to be able to write with such passion on the subject. Glad things are sorting themselves out now tho.

    Take care
