The Silence

by Wasted Fake Smiles   Feb 28, 2007

As the sunsets, light turning to dark,
A lone dog let’s out its last sleepy bark.
As the stars come out, unleashing their light,
There is the silence. The silence of the night.

As the roses wilt, color going away,
Death has come, never to see another day.
Coldness takes over, heartbeat slows,
There is the silence. The silence that grows.

As the part ends, people going back home,
Leaving one by one, until I’m alone.
The voices trail away, the sound of cars gone,
There is the silence. The silence of dawn.
