Enduring Heart

by Skye Mangual   Feb 28, 2007

A silent room that two souls had once shared,
lay completely empty but the girl trembling scared.
Everything lied untouched from the moment he went away,
dare she not touch a thing in hopes his essence would stay.
She tossed and turned in their bed fighting sleep,
reliving all the memories she prayed were hers to keep.
Thoughts of him lingered as strong as his scent on the bed,
as she lied there licking her wounds from where her heart had bled.

An old shirt that had touched his skin,
was all that kept her sane with out this lovely sin.
The one who left, she figured fast, was the one to blame,
silent tears never heard within the cry of his name.
Oh sleepless night and dreamless trance,
she begs heaven to grant them one last chance.
Emotions shatter as memories fade,
wondering how it'd be had he stayed.

She missed the good times they spent, maybe even the bad,
missed the silly fights and all the fun they had.
She cried on this desolate night pleading for him only,
for without his warm embrace nights are far too lonely.
His kiss remained on her lips, his touch still seared her flesh,
only as she longed for him could love and truth finally mesh.
silent tears met the bed they once shared,
only then she fell asleep knowing he still cared.
