Darkness

by Truett1   Mar 1, 2007

Darkness takes all in unbearable pain,
It wraps the broken in remorse,
It grieves for them and comforts them,
When the light finally arrives, the broken push against the light,
We don't want to let go of the darkness,
We don't want to return to the pain.
The light tries to comfort our souls,
When the world comes back into focus,
We see what we didn't before,
We emerge from our silent haunts,
We observe from a distance,
Unwilling to participate in a pain-causing world.
When we return we are welcomed,
We do not want welcoming,
We want to dive into darkness again,
We want relief from the worries of everyday life,
In sleep or sorrow,
We find our relief,
Never fully connecting in the same manner to the world,
But offering our differences in return.
