A TRAMP IN PEACE

DESIREE JAUREGUI

Sunken eyes with sight of melancholy
So welled in tears that blurred the path along
Sees far across to nowhere for no one
A sullen face that shuns a smile of joy
My heart wails up in arms why such a tramp

Tattered clothes hardly shield the fragile frame
Skin wrinkled sun-dried to brownish pale
Steps in slow-pace treads a dark long road
Walks of wobbly dark legs with calloused feet
My heart wails up in arms why such a tramp

A frail body deprived of man's comforts
Hunger and thirst turn him a lethargic
Rubbish along his way feeds him alone
Not even wary if health is at the risk
My heart wails up in arms why such a tramp

When clouds enfold the night with its darkness
The piteous soul lies bare on the pavement
Oblivious of the cold tacit about pain
Numbness creeps over him with nary a whine
My heart wails up in arms why such a tramp

Visions of scenes as man ails with sorrow
With afflictions ruin him to no end
As man gasps for air to breathe for dear life
Death slowly ceased the heart to beat
My heart wails up in arms why such a tramp

Not a kind soul lifts a finger for rescue
Who dares give him a chance to see life anew
A trash for a bin is what thinks of poor man
Life is cruel but why more in his death
My heart wails up in arms why such a tramp

Fate or destiny beyond us to know
A lonely journey towards a blind alley
Am nobody to ask the Lord above
Simply a passive thought nags relentlessly
My heart wails up in arms why such a tramp
