Staircase

by Wings Of Flames   Mar 1, 2007

Marble clicked beneath my feet,
As I guide my hand to rail,
Shifting mist crawls from my path,
As the past began to wail,

I knew the forbidden was to come,
But today I thought was soon,
My lips began to quiver,
Through the shadows of the moon,

The light inside split in two,
To leave me in the dark,
As light faded into the mist,
And to where the angels hark,

I kept the pace and moved on up,
Into heaven in the sky,
God asked me why I wanted it,
And I told without lie,

"God, I'm here to repent,
I'm here to end all sin,
I'm here to lie my head at last,
God, oh please, just let me in."

His face it turned from wise to sly,
But he let me in to stay,
God wasn't what I had heard of,
I learnt from this today,

'Heaven' was not the place of rest,
It was the hell of piercing flame,
Tortured beings tied to the walls,
But alas there was no shame,

I couldn't help but cry that day,
To know of what is next,
The lies, the torture and betrayal,
All encrypted in our text.
