War Torn

by hana heroin e   Mar 2, 2007

Springtime in the air
Flowers by the river
Roses in my hair
Peaceful thoughts of summer

Precious friends holding hands
Old folks fishing
Happiness filling the land
Products of all the hopes and wishing

But somewhere out there
In a land so far away
Life is nowhere near so fair
And hundreds die everyday

The soldiers and Marine Corps men
With a few women at their side
Fighting our battles for us
Laughing as we protest

Peace and not War
Can never happen
Its a huge price we pay
The price of our freedom

We have no right to do this
We cannot take for granted what they're losing
Were all so ignorant as they fight
For the freedom we are choosing

Of course we could bring them home
But then what would we lose
We would lose the trust of our friendly countries
And sacrifice our freedom

Then we would plead and whine
We would shout and complain
We always need something to cry about
But its a real matter this time

If we gave up our freedom
Just to bring our brothers back
But even if we see them home
Is that really what they want?

I know they miss their families
And I know they miss the safety
But that is what they've chosen to do
So what right do we have?

I say listen to me for once
And understand my cry
That protests only divide us more
When our lost friends in a country somewhere
Are helping save the dying War Torn places

I know this isn't my best poem, but I felt pretty strong about this topic. Add me pleaseeee!
